Summer Shoes - Let Your Feet
Breathe!
After bundling up all winter it can be hard to let go of the heavy socks, hosiery and heavy leather shoes.
But it’s summer and a good time to let your feet breathe a bit.
There are some great summer sandal styles that fit just about any occasion you can think of, even the
office. Have a pedicure, paint your toenails and let them out of the cage!
It’s also a good idea to give your feet some extra care as summer arrives. With excessive humidity and
heat your shoes and your feet need a little extra TLC.
Here are a few tips for summer foot comfort:
1. Wear shoes and sandals that breathe and have a few extra pairs to alternate with. This is
important because your shoes need time to dry and air out. Also you shoes will last that much longer.
2. If you wash canvas or tennis shoes, let them air dry in the sunlight. Don’t dry them in a dark,
dank environment. This could lead to mold or fungus growing on your shoes and no one wants to risk the
possibility of a toenail fungus.
3. If your shoes are getting a little ’stinky’, sprinkle the insides with equal parts of corn starch and baking
soda. The corn starch helps keep the shoe and your feet dry and the baking soda helps eliminate odor.
4. After bathing make sure your feet are completely dry before putting them in your shoes. If conditions
are very humid and it’s extremely hot, sprinkle your feet with a little corn starch to help prevent moisture
build-up.
5. Last but not least, give yourself a lift and your feet with a few new pairs of sandals this
summer.
